System Overview
The Radix 3-layer leafy greens module is a vertical hydroponic system designed for efficient indoor cultivation of lettuce, herbs, and microgreens. It offers increased production capacity compared to the 2-layer configuration while maintaining a compact footprint suitable for indoor environments.
This configuration is ideal for schools, universities, and small-scale production setups seeking higher output without significantly increasing space requirements.
Each layer is equipped with integrated LED lighting to ensure uniform light distribution across all plants, supporting consistent and healthy growth throughout the system.
Flexible Growing Configurations
The Radix system is designed to adapt to different crop requirements and cultivation methods:
- Adjustable water levels allow operation as NFT (shallow flow) or DWC (deep water culture)
- Each growing layer includes two movable raft trays for flexible planting density and easy crop handling
- Raft configurations are fully adaptable:
- 180-hole rafts can be adjusted to 90 holes using cap inserts
- 54-hole rafts can be adjusted to 27 holes for larger plant spacing
- Integrated shade caps seal unused holes, preventing light and air from entering the nutrient solution and maintaining optimal root zone conditions
- Additional low-density options (18 holes) available for larger crops
- Compatible with propagation trays for early-stage plant development
- Supports microgreens production with dedicated tray configurations
Crop Compatibility
This module is suitable for a wide range of crops, including:
- Lettuce
- Leafy greens and salad mixes
- Culinary herbs (basil, parsley, etc.)
- Microgreens
Optional System Upgrades
The Radix module can be expanded into a complete growing solution with additional components:
- Irrigation systems and water circulation pumps
- EC / pH monitoring and dosing systems
- Climate control and automation systems
- Integration with smart controllers and environmental monitoring solutions
Technical Note
This module includes the growing structure and integrated LED lighting system. Additional components such as irrigation, pumps, sensors, and automation are required for full system operation and can be configured based on project requirements.
